Flipped Classroom

Transform your teaching approach with our ‘Flipped Classroom’ course, a part of Erasmus teacher training. Learn innovative methods to enhance student engagement and understanding by reversing the traditional learning model.

Duration:

One-Week course

The ‘Flipped Classroom’ course, an integral component of the Erasmus teacher training program, is designed to introduce educators to the innovative concept of flipping the traditional classroom model. This course is ideal for teachers who wish to enhance student engagement and foster a more interactive learning environment.

In a flipped classroom, the traditional learning model is reversed: students are introduced to learning material before class, and classroom time is dedicated to expanding on these concepts through interactive activities. This approach shifts the focus from passive learning to an active and student-centered learning process. The course begins with an overview of the flipped classroom concept, including its history, theoretical foundations, and benefits to both students and teachers.

Participants will explore various strategies for implementing a flipped classroom model, including how to create and curate effective instructional materials for students to engage with outside of the classroom. This includes the use of videos, podcasts, readings, and other digital resources.

A significant part of the course is dedicated to teaching educators how to maximize classroom time effectively. This involves planning and facilitating interactive activities, such as discussions, problem-solving exercises, and project-based learning, which encourage students to apply and deepen their understanding of the material.

The course will also address common challenges associated with the flipped classroom model, such as ensuring student preparation and participation, adapting to different learning styles, and using technology effectively. Participants will learn strategies to overcome these challenges and create a successful flipped classroom experience for their students.

Furthermore, the course will cover assessment strategies in a flipped classroom setting. Educators will learn how to design assessments that align with the active learning model and provide meaningful feedback to students.

By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the flipped classroom model and be equipped with practical skills and strategies to implement it in their own teaching. They will be prepared to transform their classrooms into dynamic, interactive, and student-focused learning environments that enhance student engagement and understanding.
