Outdoor learning encompasses a wide range of educational activities that take place outside the traditional classroom setting. It provides students with the opportunity to engage with the natural world, offering hands-on experiences and fostering a deeper connection with the environment. This course covers the theoretical foundations of outdoor learning, including its benefits for student development, learning outcomes, and overall well-being.
Participants will explore a variety of outdoor learning approaches, such as experiential learning, environmental education, adventure education, and place-based learning. The course will provide practical strategies for planning and conducting effective outdoor learning sessions, including risk assessment and management, lesson planning, and integrating outdoor activities with curriculum standards.
